Iloilo – Bacolod Day 4 (Wrap-up – Departure)

Itinerary for the Day:

Iloilo New Port, Bacolod Port, SM City Bacolod, Bob’s Restaurant, Masskara Festival, Bongbong’s, Max’s Restaurant, Bacolod-Silay International Aiport

Today’s the fourth and last day of our trip so we decided to take the later ferry ride at around 9:30 – 10:00 am. Just enough time to rest and pack our things. After checking out from Go Hotels, we rode a taxi to Iloilo New Port and rode the ferry to Bacolod.

Upon arriving at Bacolod Port, we walked from there to SM which was only around 10 – 15 minutes away. Since we’ll be going straight to the airport in the evening, we carried all our stuff with us and decided to leave it with SM’s baggage counter. There were other like-minded people too because by the time we left our luggage, a lot of other large-sized bags were being kept.

After leaving our bags with SM, we went to Bob’s for lunch. We originally planned to go to Lord Byron’s to try out their ribs but they were still closed that time. Nevertheless, the ribs at Bob’s met our expectations and was quite soft and flavorful. I enjoyed their onion rings as well. Their signature fruit punch was great too! Once we’ve finished eating, we left SM and headed for the Masskara festival.

Once again we were treated to colorful masks, costumes and dances, but this time the performers I think were high school students. There was also a parade of huge figures but was really creepy if you ask me. Unfortunately, the best part of Masskara festival was the evening light dance but because of my friend’s commitments the following day, we had to take our flight back to Manila that night.

At around 4:30 pm, we left the festival and headed for Bongbong’s to buy souvenirs for our friends at Manila. Pastries such as piayas and napoleones are good options if you want to share them with your family and co-workers.

Tip: If you bring your plane ticket with you and show it to the cashier, you get a 10% discount! They’d also place your souvenirs in neat boxes so they can be transported safely throughout your flight.

After finishing our shopping for souvenirs, we went back to SM to have dinner at Max’s, got our luggage, and finally hailed a taxi to Iloilo International Airport. Our flight at 9:00pm was thankfully not delayed and we arrived at Manila at around 11:00pm. This time we took Philippine Airline’s flight.

My first leisure trip locally went quite well despite it being spontaneous and it was great catching up with two of my best friends since elementary. This has also been a totally great learning experience for me to know what I’d need when I go on my next local / international travel.

Until my next destination!
