About TheQuirkyYuppie
Hi! I’m Kevin, the person behind TheQuirkyYuppie.
I started this site as a place to document the things I was learning, trying, and occasionally obsessing over as I navigated adulthood. Over time, one subject clearly took over: figuring out how to make credit cards, rewards, miles, and banking relationships work better for me.

Today, TheQuirkyYuppie is primarily about credit cards, airline miles, rewards programs, and premium banking in the Philippines.
Making Every Spend Count
Here, you will find credit card reviews, rewards comparisons, promotion breakdowns, miles calculations, preferred banking updates, and practical strategies for choosing which card to use for a particular purchase.
Not every strategy will suit everyone. Some people prefer simplicity and cashback. Others enjoy maximizing every category, tracking promotions, and squeezing as much value as possible from every peso.
I am very much part of the second group.
Based on Actual Use
TheQuirkyYuppie is not meant to be a catalogue of product features copied from bank websites.
Whenever possible, I write from actual experience: the cards I hold, the promotions I join, the points I earn, the fees I encounter, and the decisions I make when deciding whether a product is genuinely worth using.
That also means my views can change.
Banks revise earning rates. Promotions end. Transfer partners change. A card that once belonged in my wallet may eventually end up in a drawer. I update my strategies as the market evolves, and I try to explain not only what changed, but why it matters.
You can also visit The Secret Setup to see how I am currently dividing my own spending across different cards.
Who This Site Is For
TheQuirkyYuppie is for anyone who wants to have a clear roadmap when it comes to credit cards and banking; whether you are applying for your first rewards card, building a miles strategy, comparing premium cards, or exploring preferred and priority banking.
You do not need to own every card or chase every promotion.
The goal is not to spend more just to earn rewards. It is to understand the options available and choose the ones that make sense for your own spending, priorities, and lifestyle.
Still a Little Quirky
Although finance has become the main focus of the site, TheQuirkyYuppie began as a personal blog and a little of that spirit remains.
From time to time, I may still write about travel, food, technology, home projects, or anything else that catches my interest. After all, points and miles are only useful when they help us enjoy the things that matter to us.
Thank you for visiting, reading, and joining me as I continue searching for better ways to make money and every spend work harder.
Welcome to TheQuirkyYuppie.

I read your article about the tier 5 cards. you mentioned CITI bank. I have been scouring the net as to know what bank should i choose…. im trying to open a passbook/savings account, you see.
so many choices 🙁 overwhelming haha. so far, im thinking PNB.
thoughts? advice? is CITI nice? gosh. haha
help! 😀
Citibank was recently acquired by UnionBank so all their branches and products have been converted. 🙂
As for PNB, ok lang naman sila although their credit cards could do better.
