Quezon City’s Frazzled Cook

“Fraz  `zle” – To be feeling a bit brain-fried / lost and confused / not functioning properly; slightly stressed, all over the place. “

The Frazzled Cook is located at 78 Scout Gandia, Laging Handa, Tomas Morato, Quezon City. From Tomas Morato Avenue, turn left or right, depending on where you’re coming from, to Scout Gandia Street and look for the big yellow sign. They are open from 11 am to 11 pm on weekdays and 11 am to 1 am on Saturdays and Sundays.

We arrived at around 1:30 pm but the place was still packed. Thankfully, 2 to 3 tables were available for us to choose from. Note: The front of Frazzled Cook can accommodate around 6 cars for parking and the streets are available for parking too.

The interior is well-lit and nicely decorated, but isn’t too spacious. I’m guessing they have around 15 tables. They also have 3 – 4 function rooms for events or special occasions. Can you see the Hello Kitty on their spoon? Cute!

My friends have been here before and were able to recommend the following:

Sizzling Squid. Marinated squid comes with cured mangoes and drizzled vinaigrette. P495.00

I really liked their Sizzling Squid. It was very easy to eat and didn’t have the taste seafood usually have. Their sauce was somewhat sweet and savory at the same time. This would have gone really well with rice!

Wagyu salpicao. Mouth-watering beef cubes sauteed with sliced garlic and mushrooms. P595.00

Wagyu salpicao comes with 1 side dish. The options include mashed potato, fries, garlic rice or plain rice. For this order, we chose mashed potato. The wagyu was deeply-flavored and the mashed potato is to-die for, even without gravy!

Grilled pork chop. 2pc 200g chops marinated and grilled served with side dish and corn. P320.00

The grilled pork chop was a bit bland by itself and had to go with the sauce. The corn was sweet and the veggies tasted… fresh. We chose fries as the side dish that goes with this one. The fries might look dull but is actually quite good – seasoned with the right amount of salt.

Paella Negra. Squid-inked rice topped with squid, shrimp, sausage and bell pepper. P345.00 for 3, P600.00 for 5

I’m not exactly sure how to judge a paella since I don’t usually order this, although based from my friends’ opinion, I think they liked Calderon’s paella better.

Truffle pasta. Mixed pasta with sauteed Portobello mushroom and home-made white truffle sauce. P325.00 for single, P515.00 for family

The Truffle Pasta was really good, too flavorful even. The bacon bits were smoked and cooked just right. A single person can’t probably eat the whole plate on their own because you’d almost get full of the taste.

It cost around P2500.00 for the four of us. I’d have to say – it was a satisfying lunch!
