Century City Mall’s Cafe Seolhwa
I’ve always wanted to try eating bingsu which is the Korean version of shaved ice and have been looking for a good place that’s near to try it.
Thankfully, I discovered Cafe Seolhwa which is located at the lower ground floor of Century City Mall in Makati, near The Sandwich Guy and Rustan’s Supermarket. Aside from desserts and beverages, they also offer meals and toasts.
The interior of the place isn’t big with around 4 to 5 tables inside the cafe and another 4 to 5 on the hallway. It’s also going to be very difficult to move around when the place is full.
The pictures on the wall are just some of the bingsu they offer from their menu. When advertisements say that the actual product may vary from the picture shown, they couldn’t have been more right…
We ordered the large serving of their Mango Bingsu which cost P230.00 which the four of us shared. It was somewhat satisfying though it would be difficult to say that it was great. The shaved ice was made of milk and not water which meant that the “ice” itself was flavored not too sweet but not too bland either. The ice was really smooth and easily melted. The mangoes were a bit on the sour side and I was honestly hoping it was cut into bite sized pieces.
Now if only we could bring Cafe Seolhwa’s shaved ice and St. Marc Cafe’s toppings together, it would be really great. I sense a business idea brewing!
