SM North Edsa’s Nadai Fujisoba

Nadai Fujisoba serves Japanese cuisine and is located at the ground floor of SM North Edsa The Block.

Once you’re at the ground floor of The Block, you can find Nadai Fujisoba between Kumori Bakery and Osaka Ohsho. The restaurant is quite small and could probably accommodate around 20 people at most. They also have a few seats outside for those especially busy times. We went there on a Saturday at 12:30 pm so there were tables available for us already.

The place serves house tea which you can have either iced or hot so you don’t really need to order drinks.

Potato Croquette (3 pcs), Php 150.00. We ordered potato croquettes as our appetizer. This pretty much tastes like hash brown and has bits of meat in it. It’s also crunchy on the outside but really mushy on the inside. I’m quite fond of this since I love everything that are potatoes.

Katsu Don Teisyoku with Mori Udon, Php 350.00. For my main dish, I ordered the Katsudon Teisyoku Set. Aside from a bowl of Katsu Don, you also get to choose between hot/cold udon/soba. Since our main reason for eating here was to try their cold noodles, I opted for the Mori Udon.

Their Katsu Don was good overall. The rice was seasoned lightly while the katsu was easy to eat. The serving size was also quite appropriate for its price considering there were noodles as well.

Eating the cold udon, on the other hand, was a new experience. It looks plain, simply because it is! You actually have to dip the udon on a sauce mixed with wasabi and onions (although how much you place is up to you). Since I was too lazy to dip the udon every single time I take a bite, I mixed the udon and the sauce on a separate bowl instead. Hey, anything works right?

It honestly wasn’t anything special and was quite heavy on the appetite so I wasn’t able to finish it. At the end of your meal, the waiters will serve you the broth in which the noodle was cooked in. According to them, this was to warm up your tummy after eating the cold noodle – now that’s another interesting thing to know about!

Matcha, Black Sesame, and Sea Salt Caramel Ice Cream, Php 100.00 ea. For dessert, we had different flavored ice creams. I’ve tasted Matcha and Sea Salt Caramel flavored ice creams before so I went for the black sesame. I guess the best way to describe it would be that its taste is similar to that of a moon cake! All of the ice creams were smooth on the palate and were really good!

Our total bill was around Php 1500.00. For that much food, it was pretty affordable. Also, since I found a voucher for Nadai Fujisoba on Metro Deal, we only had to pay Php 900 for this meal. Hence, it’s always a good idea to check out deal sites before dining anywhere!
