SM North Edsa’s Sweetea’s by Daude
Located at the ground floor of SM North Edsa’s The Block, Sweetea’s by daude creates customized tea-based or fruit-based drinks for you.
At Sweetea’s, you’ll be creating your own drink. First, you’ll have to choose a base. You can use tea as your base such as earl gray or jasmine or fruits such as mango, lychee or lemon. Next, you then select a “style” or how you’d like your drink to be. This can be hot, iced, slushy, milky, juicy or tangy. You also have the option of adding add-ons such flavored syrups, fruit bombs or flavored nata de cocos. Of course, the prices will vary depending on the options you’ve selected.
If you’re at a loss, you could always ask for recommendations from the barista!
You can find some of the ingredients they use for your drink’s base on the counter. If you’re curious enough, feel free to open the container and have a whiff of what’s in store for you.
Sweetea’s also sell tea paraphernalia, tea leaves, and tumblers, some of which are imported from Japan. Admittedly, I took a look at their prices and found it to be quite expensive. I think a tea set was around Php 2000.00 each.
These are the seats that Sweetea’s provide for their customers. Although they have the “normal” bar-type seats and dining seats outside, I find this design to be quite novel. It’s not exactly very people-friendly, but we opted to sit here anyway. On the other hand, kids seem to love running up and down here!
P.S, parents should keep an eye on their children though. One of the kids almost broke something from playing around here.
As for my drink, I ordered a Milky Earl Grey with Lychee Nata de Coco. I asked the barista which would be a good style for earl grey and I guess it’s a no-brainer to go for milky. Simply put, it’s practically screaming milk tea! I also wanted to chew on something sweet so I asked for add-ons, although I wish they had pearls as well. Overall, I loved my drink! The baristas brew the base of your drink on the spot so it was easy to tell that they weren’t made from syrup. I could even taste a hint of bitterness, probably from the tea leaves. The lychee nata de coco added flavor to my drink and sweetened it as well, which was just fine for me.
