Quick Guide to Enjoying Hong Kong
4. Have fun at Ocean Park
To get to Ocean Park, you’ll have to ride the MTR to Admiralty Station, exit at Gate B and then take Bus 629. The bus’s route will take you directly to the entrance of the park.
Ocean Park is a healthy mix of animal attractions and exciting rides. For the animal lovers, you can can gaze in awe at dolphins, penguins, snow wolves and pandas. There are also scheduled shows and feeding times so you have to take note of that as well. As for the thrill-seekers, you can try Hair Raiser, Raging River and The Abyss.
Tip: It would be a good idea to wear water-proof clothes and bring water-proof bags to place your valuables in. This is because some of the rides involve you getting wet. Really wet.
5. Enjoy Disneyland Hong Kong
Getting to Disneyland is even easier. Simply take the Disneyland Express on the MTR system and you’re there! Like Ocean Park, there are also multiple rides that one can enjoy here such as Mad Hatter Tea Cups, Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars, and Hyperspace Mountain. However, instead of animals, you get to meet your favorite Disney characters and experience their world. To name a few, there’s Winnie the Pooh, Tarzan, and Tinkerbell.
Tip: There are lockers and storage spaces available if you’re bringing your luggage with you; so you don’t need to worry about carrying any of them should you wish to stop by here first before going to or coming from the airport.
6. Shop at Ladies’ Market
When you’re done with all that excitement, it’s time for some rest and relaxation. By that, I mean shopping. You can find the Ladies’ Market in Mong Kok and there are multiple ways to get there (check them here). Aside from the retail stores along the streets, there are stalls that are set-up for you to shop in.
There isn’t a specific time for the opening and closing times but it’s best you visit the market in the evening.
7. Hop across malls and visit Times Square
Like Singapore, malls in Hong Kong are everywhere. They’re right below condominiums, next or on top of MTR stations, and even across the streets of one another. They also have their own version of the outlet malls in the form of Citygate Outlets. Here, you can shop for international brands at a huge discount.
Hong Kong’s truly a great country to visit. However, you have to make sure that the weather is good. Unlike the Philippines, certain storm signals could mean no work for all, and that includes malls and shops. The next time I come here would mostly be for shopping and dining so that’s definitely something I’m looking forward to!
