Which Rewards Cards are In My Wallet?
One way for businesses to retain their clients or customers is through the use of a rewards card or a program.
Being a member of various establishments that you frequent can have a lot of benefits. These may come in the form of rebates, discounts, miles or invites. To make their rewards program more enticing, some businesses even go through great lengths to partner up with other merchants/corporations to bring their customers more value.
Mabuhay Miles Travel Card
My family usually flies with PAL so it was a no-brainer for me to get into Mabuhay Miles. Aside from the normal membership card, Philippine Airlines also released a multi-currency debit card powered by UnionPay in the form of their Mabuhay Miles Travel Card. Do note that this card also serve as your membership card if you’re in the Classic tier of their rewards program.
In addition to earning miles, there are also offers and discounts which you can avail by simply presenting either a digital or physical card. One promo that I took advantage of was Tokyo Bubble Tea’s free milk tea when ordering a Chicken Teriyaki Doria. Other promos include getting discounts from apparel shops such as Aigle.

Miles Petron Value Card
Since gassing is up something most people need to do anyway, I looked to see if any of the gas corporations had a rewards program. True enough, I found out about Petron Value Card for Petron (and BDO Rewards for Shell).
Aside from the points I get for paying with credit cards, I’m also earning Petron Points which I can exchange for various perks such as miles, cash or load. Getting a Petron Value Card also entitles you to road assistance and insurance.
Trick: Since our business requires a number of trucks for deliveries, I decided to get a total of 3 cards which I will then rotate. We usually fill the trucks with only 500.00 PHP amount of gas every iteration so the cards are used as is. However, when the next use is eligible for the bonus points, I’ll keep it and use it to gas up to full tank on our own cars.

MVP Visa Debit Card
Another expense that anyone would have either way: prepaid or postpaid mobile phones. For PLDT, Smart, Sun, and TNT subscribers, the MVP Rewards Card should be in your arsenal. For Globe, there should be the Globe Rewards. However, I’ve never been a Globe subscriber so I’m not too familiar with this.
Powered by Visa and PayMaya, you can use the cashback earned here from loading up and paying on time directly since the card doubles up as a debit card. Like the Mabuhay Miles Travel/membership card, there are also promos which you can avail by simply showing the card. My favorite promo is definitely Gong Cha’s 50% off on select, second drinks!

Ayala Rewards Circle
I received my Ayala Rewards Circle courtesy of Ayala Land, Inc. This card allows me to avail of perks across Ayala’s various subsidiaries such as BPI, Globe, and Isuzu/Honda. Each subsidiary has their own conditions and requirements before one is eligible for the ARC.
A complete list of the perks can be found on ARC’s website and mobile app. Best perk of having the ARC? VIP/preferred lanes in BPI and Globe and lounge access and free valet parking at select Ayala malls. Less waiting, more hustling!
Likewise, details on Ayala Rewards Circle can be viewed here.
BDO Rewards
I’ve been banking with BDO since I graduated from college in 2014. However, it was only in 2017 when I started having a better relationship with them and was able to increase my membership level. BDO Rewards is divided across three levels and the benefits that go with them increase as the level goes up.
Regardless of the level, this card can be used for earning and redeeming points in various establishments under the SM Company and their affiliates.
To know more about BDO Rewards and the different levels, feel free to visit their page here.
I have a few more rewards card but I don’t feel they’re too substantial to include here such as cards from DataBlitz, Speedo, and Healthy Options, etc. Nevertheless, I keep them handy on a card holder whenever I go out.
How about you? What rewards cards do you have and what perks have you gotten from them? Feel free to share them in the comments below!
