Using Credit Card to pay Lesser-Known Transactions
Wise credit card usage can reap you tons of benefits without spending an additional cent. Aside from daily necessities, there are a few other things that you can use your credit cards for.
I’ve talked about trying to maximize credit card points from everyday spends such as groceries, shopping, and bills. But did you know you can pay for properties, taxes, insurance, and a lot more with your credit card?
Here’s a summary of establishments and expenses that can be paid for using credit cards. Some of which I have gathered through my thread over at PEX.
Arts
- Salcedo Auctions
Cars
- Chevrolet Quezon Avenue – For maintenance, repairs and services
Insurance
- Allianz
- AXA
- BDO Life
- Cocolife
- FWD
- Manulife
- Insular Life
- PhilAm Life
- Pioneer Life
- PruLife – Via manual payment on PruAccess or Auto-Debit Arrangements
- Sun Life
Note: For insurance, it doesn’t seem like all types are eligible for payment through credit card. It’s best that you coordinate with your financial advisor and ask about their modes of payment.
Miscellaneous
- Club Shares
- Hospitals
- Yachts
Properties
- ALI – Reservation Fees
- SMDC – Monthly Downpayment (Mastercard, Visa, AmEx, JCB) via SAM. Update on Aug. 5, 2019: I’ve confirmed with SMDC’s customer service that you can pay in advance and in excess using your credit card. Excess payments, after all the down payment has been made, will be deducted from your principal balance/lump sum. Effectively, this means that one can actually purchase a condo using credit cards!
Property Taxes
- Valenzuela – Via online (with additional convenience fee charged) or in person payment at the city hall. Currently accepts Visa cards only.
Travels
- Travel Taxes – Via online through https://traveltax.tieza.gov.ph/ or in NAIA counters. This is great for those flying international with PAL and do not want to get charged in USD.
Did I miss anything? Feel free to comment below! Who knows, lots of others might find your information useful.
Note: I’ll try to keep this blog post updated together with the thread over at PEX. I’ll also write a post to expound on some of them should I ever have the chance to.
