Glorietta 5’s Saboten

I’ve been hearing about Saboten from my friends for quite a while now so I was intrigued how it fared as a restaurant that serves Japanese cuisine.

Saboten currently has branches in Glorietta, where I went, and another in BGC. The Glorietta 5 branch of Saboten is near Baskin Robbins and its entrance is found outside the mall.

A staple at Japanese restaurants, you can find mayonnaise, teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, and chili / chili oil sitting right at your table.

The interior is well-lit and has a very cozy ambiance. There are a lot of partitions which allows small and big groups to have an intimate time together without disturbing the other patrons too much. Service stations have also been placed all throughout so it shouldn’t take too long when you request for something.

Since Japanese restaurants’s menu aren’t usually for sharing, me and my friends ordered a meal each. Since I wanted to try a variety of their food, I ordered the Saboten Special Set.

To start with, a handful of cabbage which you top with the mayonnaise. You can also ask for hot or cold house tea which is totally free.

The Saboten Special set comes with 1 deep-fried shrimp, 1 loin cutlet, 1 tenderloin cutlet, and 1 crab cream croquette. There’s also miso soup and unlimited rice. The entire meal costs P575.00 but is totally worth the price.

All the meat were perfectly tender on the inside and crisp on the outside. They were lightly flavored and I actually preferred not to add any more lemon to it. The shrimp and crab didn’t have any hint of “fishiness” to it. I was seriously full and satisfied at the end of that meal.

Glorietta 5’s Saboten is open daily from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm.
