Uptown Place Mall’s Peperoni Pizzeria

Located at the 3rd floor of the newly built Uptown Place Mall in BGC, Peperoni Pizzeria serves Italian dishes for its mall-goers.

We made a reservation at around 2:00 pm via Booky so there weren’t a lot of other customers. Booking through this venue also gave us a PHP 500.00 discount and a free dessert after providing comments and feedback. You can find the restaurant along the veranda of the mall. To get there, you could either go through the mall then exit at the 3rd floor or go through the veranda from the start.

The space was okay, good for probably 10 tables. Ambiance was light and cheery with lots of natural lighting coming from the veranda. There were also some really nice light fixtures in the shape of pizza trays.

Since my friend Patrice had been to Peperoni Pizzeria before, we let her chose the dishes.

Random thoughts: Not only were some of the decors unique, their menu was too!

The first dish that came out was the Portobello Pollo (PHP 455.00). The breading actually tastes like a tonkatsu’s. It was sweet and savory. The mushroom tastes like your typical mushroom so that’s good right? Still, that’s one huge mushroom. I’d have to say, the mushroom was probably as big as my closed fist. This was definitely a unique way of preparing mushrooms.

Next up was the Large Half/Half Pizza (PHP 525.00) where we chose Parma and Frutti de Mare. To be honest, this was the laziest pizza ever. It felt like the chef didn’t bother cutting the ingredients and the dough properly. Although the taste was good, I’m not sure if pizzas were supposed to be like this.

Our last order was the Alle Vongole (PHP 380.00) with capellini or angel hair as the pasta. According to my friends, the shells were either too fresh or under-cooked. Nevertheless, I ate a handful and my tummy was fine that night as well.

The redeeming factor for my dining experience would be the free tiramisu that we got courtesy of Booky. Now this was good! Maybe all desserts are?

The food were either a hit or miss for me. Some were really good, others were just simple. Cleanliness-wise, they do have something to improve. There were a few flies when we were dining and the candles didn’t really help. All in all, I would have to say the restaurant deserves a second chance from me. If and when I am in the area.
