Redeeming Your Citibank Points/Miles via the Mobile App

Aside from the Citi ThankYou portal which you can access via a browser, you can also redeem your points/miles using the Citi mobile app.

As mentioned before, Citibank has the best online portal and mobile app among the Philippine banking system. I just hope UnionBank, which acquired Citibank, is able to even come close to a fraction of what Citibank has.

For one, transactions with Citibank are reflected almost in real-time, be it for deposit products or credit card purchases. Next, you can chat with customer service online aside from the usual hotline. You can also redeem your points and miles on your own without having to submit any forms, sending any emails, or making a call. Lastly, Citibank was one of the first to provide the lock and unlock function on your cards, whether debit or credit, and a functionality that is (similar to other bank’s) Citi PayAll.

Note: I actually don’t know how to describe Citi PayAll. It’s something that’s close to cash advance/personal loan but it works a bit differently…

Since I have already written a post on how to redeem your Citibank points/miles on the browser, I’ll show you how to do it on the mobile app here.

Login to the Citi Mobile App

Select the type of rewards you want to redeem

On the upper part of your screen, you’ll see your points/miles. Select/tap the one you want to redeem.

Select what you want to redeem

For the Citibank Prestige credit card, you can choose between “Pay with points” or “Cash Rebate”. Depending on the card you have, the choices may vary. Also, options for redemption on the mobile app aren’t as complete as the one in the Citi ThankYou Portal (browser).

For example, on my Citi Premier Miles credit card, I’m unable to do any redemptions.

Pay With Points

“Pay With Points” is for when you want to use your points to pay for a specific transaction.

Cash Rebate

“Cash Rebate” is when you want a specific amount credited to your credit card.

And that’s it! Banking with Citibank has really been convenient. Too bad they’re closing doors soon…
